Chase Recruitment are working with a residential children's home based in Shrewsbury who are looking to recruit a talented and career focused Residential Childcare Worker, (RCW), for a permanent role working primarily with children with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD)

The primary role of an RCW is to encourage learning and help develop existing life skills with a focus on building confidence, independence and all aspects of self-care.

The children you will support have Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and will require a calm and supportive approach.

The most successful RCW's are open and clear communicators with a positive outlook on life. They will be resilient, emotionally strong and altruistic in nature.

They have an ability to engage and inspire young people and will often be creative individuals themselves. They don't get offended easily and encourage and celebrate through recognition and praise.

The main duties involved in this position are:

  • Supporting a child with their personal care needs
  • Promoting a happy and positive environment at all times
  • Moving and handling of children, in line with policies (training is provided)
  • Devising and engaging children in fun activities
  • Instilling belief through encouragement and praise
  • Maintain records to a high professional standard
  • Chaperone children to school, appointments and activities such as shopping or day trips out

Chase Recruitment would like to hear from people who:-

  • Have experience working with children
  • Are looking for a full-time career in childcare
  • Hold a valid driving licence
  • Holding a Level 3 qualification in Children and Young People workforce would be an advantage, however full, accredited training can be provided
  • Have experience working in community services such as youth work, police force, schools etc
